THE 2024 TEAM
Tom Collins
Head of Science Department, Project Advisor
Attended: Imperial College, London
Favorite Science: Anything to do with the 2nd law...
Before going into teaching, Tom spent some time in different research fields including pharmaceutical design, biogeochemistry, and synthetic organic chemistry. Organic chemistry remains his passion and he is really pleased to have students here at Country Day that are willing to take it on. He has taught in schools on both sides of the Atlantic but has really found his home here in the US. He and his wife have two children who both attend Country Day. Outside of school, his interests include carpentry and ocean sailing.
Price Davis
Class of 2024
Attending: University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Favorite Science: Organic Chemistry
Known as the "Interdisciplinary Idol" for his amazing work in both the Print and Build team, Price has introduced new methods of setting magnets and perfected the maintenance of the 3D printers. Throughout Price's high school career, science has always been a strong passion of his with chemistry being his favorite field because of the fascinating way atoms function and interact. Price plans to continue his studies at UNC Chapel Hill where he hopes to pursue either business or medicine.
Elise Exson
Class of 2024
Attending: TBD
Favorite Science: Chemistry
Since joining Country Day in 9th grade, Elise has taken advantage of many of the science course offerings, including AP Chemistry, AP Physics C, and Organic Chemistry. As a member of the Cool And Dope (CAD) team, Elise creates 3D models of molecules and molds using the bond angles and measurements found by the PyMOL and R teams. Outside of the classroom, Elise enjoys spending time with friends, traveling, learning new languages, and taking photos.
Nicholas Feddersen
Class of 2024
Attending: Purdue University
Favorite Science: Computer Science
Known colloquially as the “Lulzbot Legend”, Nicholas was a founding member of team GENESIS and cranked out hundreds of beautifully flawless molecules (and four asparagus). He was intimately involved with efforts to cut weight and optimize GENESIS’s production, and served as a style consultant to Drake, Napoleon, and two more currently unnamed asparagus. He will miss inhaling the sweet PETG fumes next year as he goes to Purdue University to study agricultural economics and crop science.
Noah Fisher
Class of 2024
Attending: University of Colorado Boulder
Favorite Science: Organic Chemistry
Standing tall at 6'0" with shoes on and strong with 185 lbs of muscle, Noah Fisher has been a formidable member of several teams. He started his career on the Pymol research team, before transitioning into a more mathematical role upon joining Aiden's Big Team, finding magnet bias angles and strengths. He will be studying Chemistry and Psychology at CU Boulder next fall, as well as breaking hearts and getting jacked.
Magdeline Fraser
Class of 2024
Attending: TBD
Favorite Science: TBD
TBD
Hans Majewski
Class of 2024
Attending: University of North Carolina Chapel Hill
Favorite Science: Organic Chemistry
Known throughout as the "Drilling Demon" and standing a solid inch above Noah, Hans has been a member of the construction team DIGA. He spends most of his class time drilling and cleaning up molecules along with making sure the 3D printing team is on task. Hans plans to study Chemistry at UNC next year.
Jai Mehta
Class of 2024
Attending: TBD
Favorite Science: Physical Chemistry
Jai is a member of the construction team known as DIGA. He works closely with GENESIS to ensure his team has the proper pieces in a timely manner. He mostly spends his days drilling the pieces of various amino acid structures. Jai also enjoys running and watching college basketball with his family.
Angelina Quan
Class of 2024
Attending: Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Favorite Science: Computer Science
Angelina is pretty much the star of the R Coding Team and the Website Team. She loves to talk anything math or fintech, and she's currently suffering from crippling Milk Cha Cha withdrawal. Things she's proud of include her 300+ days NYT mini streak, her ability to sleep for up to 15 hours at a time, and her top 0.5% frank ocean listener status. She can always be found on tennis courts or the slopes. She really really loves chill cafés and coffee shops, adores film photography, and is a sucker for board games (her favorite ones right now are Avalon and Catan).
Riley Reddinger
Class of 2024
Attending: TBD
Favorite Science: Chemistry
Riley has been on the 3D Print Team, GENESIS, for the entirety of this class. Besides printing, she has also worked on small CAD projects. Riley is the team captain of the Varsity Girls Golf Team and also enjoys gardening and hanging out with her many pets. She hopes to pursue International Relations and Diplomacy in the future and also wants to learn more about the Chinese language.
Aiden Reinke
Class of 2024
Attending: TBD
Favorite Science: Organic Chemistry
Standing three inches above Noah Fisher, and bearing less than 3kg more mass than him, Aiden Reinke was a part of three teams, and the leader of one, which Noah worked under him in. I worked on team Pymol, and Aiden's big team, mostly working on graph functions in Aiden's big team, while focusing more on data gathering in the Pymol team. I'm probably the last person in the class who will know what college they're going to, but nevertheless I am excited for the journey ahead.
Pope Shuford
Class of 2024
Attending: Tufts University
Favorite Science: Medical Chemistry
Pope started his journey on team R , using his limited coding knowledge to assist Angelina. He then took his talents to Aiden’s Big Team. He developed protocols for creating accurate magnet strength curves to match the histograms and pioneered a new Desmos tool for planning magnet placement. Outside of class, Pope enjoys rock climbing and weightlifting.
Stuart Stafford
Class of 2024
Attending: Wake Forest University
Favorite Science: Exercise Science
Stuart likes science and although he did not take Orgo the semester before, he still signed up for this class. It has been a good year. DIGA > GENESIS. Shout out Goeke for inspiration to take this class.
Bobby Woodruff
Class of 2024
Attending: College of William & Mary
Favorite Science: Organic Chemistry
Known to some as "The CAD King," Bobby has been on the computer modeling team since day one. Picking up CAD techniques quickly, he has helped to recreate and document the technique for creating the improved molds created in 2023, and later made components for the asparagine amino acid. Outside of biochem, Bobby's favourite subject has always been science, especially chemistry, which is also his intended major at W&M. He also plays tennis and has an awesome car.
