COMPUTATIONAL PHYSICAL BIOCHEMISTRY EXPLAINED

The aim of this project is to produce a dynamic 3D physical model of a protein that will fold and flex in the same way that proteins do in reality.

In order to design a reflective model we have to gather data on proteins that have been characterized to this point, process that data and use it to design component pieces of the protein model, 3D print the component pieces, assemble the model and test its behavior.

Gathering
data

Download data from characterized proteins on the online Protein Data Bank

DATA Processing

Visualize the proteins and take measurements using Wincoot or PyMOL, or automate the process using R coding

DESIGNING

THE MODEL

Use Fusion 360 to design the components of the model ready for

3D printing

MODEL construction

3D print and assemble the model. Test its dynamic behavior
