THE 2025 TEAM

Mr_edited.jpg
Tom Collins

Head of Science Department, Project Advisor

Attended: Imperial College, London
Favorite Science: Anything to do with the 2nd law...
Before going into teaching, Tom spent some time in different research fields including pharmaceutical design, biogeochemistry, and synthetic organic chemistry. Organic chemistry remains his passion and he is really pleased to have students here at Country Day that are willing to take it on. He has taught in schools on both sides of the Atlantic but has really found his home here in the US. He and his wife have two children who both attend Country Day. Outside of school, his interests include carpentry and ocean sailing.

Burke Frenzel

Class of 2025

Attending: University of Virginia
Favorite Science: Organic Chemistry

Nicknamed “pharaoh” or otherwise known as the “cartographer,” Burke is a cunning student and is featured on the CAD team. He is a man of many talents and master of some including eating, sleeping, and of course designing flawless molecules like it’s nothing.

Lily Giardi

Class of 2025

Attending: Jefferson Scholar at University of Virginia
Favorite Science: Chemistry and Biology

Lily is a key member of the PyMOL team on her research project, bringing molecular models to life with precision and creativity. When she’s not visualizing proteins, she’s out running for fun and fitness or experimenting in the kitchen to create delicious, healthy meals. Whether she’s working on science, sprinting miles, or perfecting a new recipe, Lily brings energy and dedication to everything she does!

Wil Harrick

Class of 2025

Attending: TBD
Favorite Science: Physics

Wil codes by day, lifts by night, and serves up ice cream in between. As a member of the research project's coding team, he tackles bugs with the same intensity as his workouts. When he's not coding or hitting the gym, he's probably perfecting the art of the perfect scoop.

William Harrison

Class of 2025

Attending: TBD
Favorite Science: Chemistry

William spends his time coding for his research project, debugging both programs and his patience. When he's not staring at a screen, he’s either conquering hiking trails or cooking up a meal—because even coders need something other than caffeine to survive.
Image (5).jpg
Phyu Htet

Class of 2025

Attending: TBD
Favorite Science: Biology
Phyu is a key player on the 3D printing team, turning ideas into reality—when the printer actually cooperates. When she’s not fixing misprints or celebrating a perfectly smooth layer, she’s out on the golf course, trying to convince herself that bogeys build character. Whether she’s battling a stubborn printer or a tricky putt, Phyu faces every challenge with patience, precision, and just the right amount of laughter!
Image (6).jpg
Kobey Riley

Class of 2025

Attending: TBD
Favorite Science: Chemistry

Kobey is a CAD team mastermind, turning digital designs into reality. When he’s not perfecting models, he’s out running—probably away from the chaos of being the oldest of four boys. A true team leader both at home and in the lab, he’s set on becoming a pediatric cardiologist, because fixing tiny hearts sounds more fun than breaking up sibling fights.
Image (2).jpg
Chloe Saxonhouse

Class of 2025

Attending: Duke University
Favorite Science: Everything
Chloe is a PyMOL expert, turning tiny molecules into big discoveries—one colorful visualization at a time. When she’s not analyzing proteins, she’s out running for fun (yes, on purpose) and pretending sore legs build character. Whether she’s untangling molecular structures or her own shoelaces mid-run, Chloe takes on every challenge with determination and a good sense of humor!
Image (9).jpg
Rohan Shrestha

Class of 2025

Attending: TBD
Favorite Science: Biology
Rohan, a proud native of "The Burgh," brings his CAD skills to life using Fusion 360 for his research project. When he's not meticulously tweaking models, you can find him at the piano, channeling his inner virtuoso—though whether he's composing masterpieces or just hitting keys at random is up for debate. A devoted Mac Miller fan, he claims his best designs are inspired by late-night listening sessions. If CAD had a soundtrack, his would be straight out of Pittsburgh.
Image (10).jpg
Bryson Taylor

Class of 2025

Attending: TBD
Favorite Science: Organic Chemistry
Bryson is a dedicated member of the construction team for his research project, contributing to assembling and refining physical models. His hands-on approach and problem-solving skills make him a valuable asset to the team. Outside of his research, Bryson enjoys playing soccer, where his teamwork and competitive spirit shine.
Image (1).jpg
Anna Torstrick

Class of 2025

Attending: TBD
Favorite Science: Chemistry
Anna is a 3D printing wizard by day and a tennis enthusiast by afternoon (because night tennis is just asking for trouble). She’s the mastermind behind her research project’s website, proving that coding and creativity do mix. When she’s not bringing digital ideas to life or making tiny plastic objects, you’ll find her on the tennis court with her friends acing it up!
Image (8).jpg
Esme Van Orden

Class of 2025

Attending: Williams College
Favorite Science: Biology
Esme is a proud member of the PyMOL team, turning tiny molecules into big discoveries one visualization at a time. When she’s not analyzing proteins, she’s in the pool, training hard for her next race—a skill she’ll be taking to Williams College, where she'll spend just as much time in the water as on land. Whether she’s diving into research or off the starting block, Esme is always making waves!
